We worked on all finishing aspects in restoring this 1911 character home in Victoria, BC.  This included:

  • design and install of a new kitchen
  • design and install of bathroom vanities
  • adding trim, casings and baseboard
  • installing lacquered fir interior doors
  • building custom walk-in closet organizer
  • painting walls and trim

The end product modernized the home while maintaining character elements expected in a home of this age.

The Kitchen

The client wanted his home to have as many character elements as possible, so we agreed that building fir cabinetry was a good choice.  Fir was a common finishing material 100 years ago, and it looks great with rich colours emerging with age.

The design maximized a relatively small floorspace by designing the large island’s position to allow for good walkways, building a custom shelving unit under the encroaching stairway and adding a third row of cabinets above the first row of upper cabinets.  The end result was a functional area great for entertaining with loads of storage.

Granite counters and backsplash, self close drawers and doors, stainless steel appliances and under cabinet LED lighting were all features added to complete the space.
